Sports: UNO-R Rams eye NOPSSCEA finals anew
Last year’s runner up, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) Rams football squad, is eyeing to recapture the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) collegiate football.
Just like any other teams, UNO-R Head Coach Carlo Torbela, disclosed that finds his team 70% ready and had chance to enter this season’s finals. He considers defending champion University of St. La Salle Stingers still the strong team, although not discounting the many time champion West Negros University Mustangs. However, he said they are not unfazed to take the challenge.
Rams lost to Stingers in last year’s finals, 3-nil courtesy of Joshua Beloya.
UNO-R last won the title in 2010 beating West Negros University Mustangs, 3-1.
"I find my team this season stronger than last year despite the number of rookies in my lineup," said Torbela.
Donning UNO-R Rams’ color this year include: keepers Jan Ervin Longno and Gino Sedurifa; forwards Luis Christian Clauor, Luther Silava, Randy Temana, Dari Poderoso Jr., Michael Cornel and Michael Cornel; midfielders Joel Villacoquer, Ernest Paul Anceta, Paul Alfred Tenebroso, Joey Ivan Seva and John Michael Liza; and defenders Rodgie Lumawag, John Raymund Ancheta, Archie Nemenzo, Marvic Gancita, Eron Mark Jareño, East Tristan Encabo and Hargie Bagioro.* (CMG/NDB)
