A barangay tanod was arrested along with four other persons after they were reportedly involved in the robbery of a cargo forwarding company in Bacolod City, Thursday,

PSInsp. Dianne Grace Aquitania, Police Station 4 (PS4) chief said a witness alleged that barangay tanod, Dandy Cocino, 30, of Purok Kamunsil was arrested for robbing JPCIPC Cargo forwarding about 5AM, Thursday taking PP358,000 estimated worth of items and cash

Cocino’s companions were identified as; Gerald Sison, 23, Romeo Gasapo, Jr., 21, Fernando Flores, 19, and a minor, all of Hervias 2, Villamonte.

JPCIPC Cargo forwarding owner, Jefferson Peñosa, 37, of C.L. Montelibano Drive, Brgy. Villamonte told the police that his secretary Herser Desoy discovered the robbery and that the suspects allegedly destroyed the lock of the company’s roll-up door to gain entrance.

Aquitania also said that a pedicab driver claimed that he saw a group of unidentified men coming out of the establishment while loading several items into an unidentified vehicle.

Stolen were the following; a desktop computer worth P34,000, nine laptop computers all worth P245,000, a computer netbook valued at P16,000, a rice cooker, valued at P1,500, a portable table valued at P1,500, 48 motorcycle tires all worth P34,000, a computer printer valued at P9,000 and P19,000 cash.

The suspects are now detained at PS4 while criminal charges are prepared to be filed against them.

Meanwhile, unidentified robbers broke into the house of Keith Chester Ong, at 21st Lacson St., Brgy. 4, Bacolod and took P88, 300 cash and items about 9AM, Thursday.

Ong, 21, related to investigators that the suspects took a laptop computer valued at P55,000, two pairs of shoes worth P7,400, a pair of eye glasses worth P2,000, a computer external drive at P4,500, a knap sack with personal belongings valued at P4,400 and P15,000 in cash.

PO2 Leomel Guinanao, Police Station 2 (PS2) case investigator, said the suspects detached two slats of jalousies from the window of Ong’s house near the laundry area to gain entrance to the main house and stole the said items.

Further probe on the case is underway.*
