A 13-year-old girl, Grade 4 pupil, was found dead in Three Big Stone Sub-village in Barangay Tagok, Kabankalan City, Thursday afternoon, undressed, peppered with stab wounds, and her personal belongings beside her.

Supt. Calixto Mabugat, Kabankalan police chief, told Aksyon Radyo it is likely that she was sexually abused then stabbed many times to silence her because she may have known the perpetrator. There are also no less than 10 witnesses to the shocking crime and that they are expected to show up at the police hoffice yesterday where their testimonies would be taken.

It is also likely that the perpetrators, still a suspect but already in custody, will be known soon. This is because witnesses have pinpointed the knife as his, belonging to him, said Mabugat in the interview.

"It is also likely that the 13-year old grade four pupil struggled against her abuser or abusers if they are more than one," added Mabugat.

The girl’s name is being kept for ethical reasons.

She was a pupil of the Tagok Village Elementary School.

The Kabankalan Police Station chief said, they have requested for an autopsy of the girl’s remain from the PNP Crime Laboratory.

The suspect is now in custoday of the police. He is about 18 years old.

The police are still piecing other details of the case and will be able to come up with a concrete, more basic details soon, said the Kabankalan police chief.

Mabugat has been efficient of the solution of crimes in the city, with killings, hold-ups and the illegal dug trade reported there in the not-so-distant past, highly-reliable sources said.*(EAC)
