In a letter to the Hon. Bro. Armin A. Luistro,FSC, Secretary of the Department of Education, dated yesterday, Leonardia endorsed the bid of the provincial government to host the 2013 Palarong Pambansa. He said that the City of Bacolod has a long history of cooperation in hosting sports events and have even been branded as the "Emerging Sports Capital of the Philippines".

"We are willing to prove that beyond our capability to host national games, we can also showcase our investment potentials and other attractions as a premier destination in our country. But we can only realize this if given a chance to host the thousands of athletes, officials and guests to the Palarong Pambansa 2013", Leonardia said.

It may be recalled that Bacolod along with 3 other cities in the province (Silay, Talisay and Bago) hosted the Philippine National Games in May last year.*
