To make the preparation more conducive to all participants from different Local Government Units (LGUs) in the first district, the organizer has reset the schedule anew for the 2nd Congressman Jules Ledesma Boxing Cup in Calatrava Covered Gym.

This is the third time the schedule was reset to a new one after it was first slated August 3, 4 and 5, then August 9, 10 to 11, but the new schedule will be on August 17, 18 to 19, 2012.

The same program will be followed by the 1st District Congressman Jules Ledesma and Provincial Sports coordinator Angel Verdeflor as guest of the tournament.

Verdeflor will represent Gov. Alfredo G. Marañon, Jr., he added.

Dubbed as "Blow by Blow sa Unang Distrito", five LGUs in the district will vie for the titles in different weight categories.

Bert Alison, tournament boxing coordinator disclosed that hundreds of age-group boxers from 1st District of Negros Occidental will showcase their boxing skills and prowess when they join the 3-day boxing tournament.

The LGUs comprise of the cities of Escalante and San Carlos and the municipalities of Toboso, Don Salvador Benedicto and host Calatrava.

The tournament is in cooperation with the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental headed by Gov. Alfredo G. Marañon, Jr.

The tournament is one of the province’s sports programs to discover talented boxers who will eventually compose the Negros First Boxing Team that will represent Negros Occidental in national and international boxing competitions.

Cash prizes and trophies await the winners with the champion receiving P5, 000; P3, 000 for 1st runner-up; P2, 000 for 2nd runner-up and P2, 000 for consolation prize.

The tournament will be supervised by accredited boxing judges and referees under Verdeflor.*
