Local News: Gunman in Mediaman’s Killing Nabbed
An alleged suspect in the killing of a blocktime media practitioner was nabbed by agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) early yesterday morning in Brgy. Tinongan, Isabela town where he stayed with his wife, an interview by Aksyon Radyo with provincial CIDG Chief Cordero yesterday said. Cordero stated in an interview with Aksyon Radyo Bacolod that they were able to arrest Noel Guimeroy, co-accused of suspect Joel Calungsod in Criminal Case. No. 8569-20-69 by Silay City Branch 69 Judge Francis Banzon. No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of Guimeroy and Calungsod whenever he is arrested.
The CIDG has not forgotten the Jimena case but had mobilized its Community Investigation Support (CIS) organized earlier by Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao, national CIDG chief. It was, in fact, the collective efforts of the CIS, WV CIDG Chief Sr. Supt. Eddie Benigay and the local CIDG which led to Guimeroy’s arrest.
Guimeroy refused to comment on his arrest but said his co-accused had been in touch with him only to purchase fighting cocks. He, however, is in the dark as to where Calungsod stays, because he uses different cellphones in calling him (Guimeroy).
In a separate interview by Aksyon Radyo, Mike Jimena, brother of the late Lito Jimena thanked the CIDG profusely for finally nabbing the suspect in the alleged killing of his brother.
He said his brother was killed August 22, 2011 in Damgo Village in EB Magalona town.
With Guimeroy’s arrest the family would discuss what their next moves would be.
The motive for the killing of Jimena has not been established yet.*
