To strengthen the disaster community response in Silay City, the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) and National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) in coordination with the City Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office will conduct Community Action for Disaster Response (CADRE) courses in some Pilot Communities in the city starting August 15-24, 2012.

LDRMMO Coordinator Jesus Oppus, FO2 Zeaphard Caelian, Fire Insp. Vencie Jojo Aldeguer, SFO1 Junnel Uberas and their team will lead the training to some pilot communities as identified and endorsed by Philippine National Red Cross and National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council.

Caelian said the city government of Silay took action on the formal communication sent by Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) PEER Chief of Party Sajedul Hasan to NDRRMC Executive Director and Administrator of the Civil Defense USEC Benito Ramos, of the proposal to implement CADRE Refresher Course, CADRE Simulation and CADRE Basic Course to some selected Pilot Communities in Silay.

The city government of Silay is now in the stage of citing the place and the exact dates on when and where the training will be held. Cailan added,non-disaster professionals can now learn how to prepare for disasters in their community where they have a better chance of surviving.

To recall, the first community training was conducted in Silay City last February, 2011.*(Joanzen D. Dedoroy)
