This year’s Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) tournament directors and playing venues have been identified by Sports Task Force chairman.

Tony Agustin, NOPSSCEA Sports chairman, had selected tournament directors with knowledge on running every sport discipline from outside of NOPSSCEA in order to employ fairness and neutrality in the conduct of competition once it starts early this month or next month.

Officially, the NOPSSCEA season will open on September 18, 2012. However, collegiate basketball will start on August 31. Agustin said they need to start early to allow this year’s NOPSSCEA champion to join the Philippine Collegiate Championship League set in Dumaguete City on October 14 to 16.

Four top collegiate teams will dispute this year’s NOPSSCEA title led by defending champion West Negros University Mustangs. Other teams are University of St. La Salle Stingers, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Rams and Colegio San Agustin Eagles. These same teams will also engage in a Pre-NOPSSCEA tournament on August 10, 11 and 12, 2012 at the West Negros University gym.

Named tournament director is Pastor Renato Bravo for collegiate and secondary basketball, while Elvis Atinado for elementary division.

Yolly Vingno of Bacolod City High School for athletics; Rey Pama of Victorias National High School for Badminton; Kim Dumdum for chess; Dennis Escaniel and Leo Dayot for football; Ricardo Deocares of Silay City for Karatedo; Eddie Rodriguez for lawn tennis; Nehemias Montecillo for sepak takraw; Tessie Ongkee for swimming; Michael Yano for table tennis; Harny Tabuada for taekwondo and Malot Lozada for volleyball and beach volleyball.

Proposed playing venues are; Panaad Sports Stadium or University of St. La Salle oval for athletics; Pohang Badminton Center for badminton; Panaad Swimming pool for swimming; West Negros University or USLS for basketball; WNU for chess and secondary and elementary football, while the collegiate is in Ayala North Point Football Field; USLS for karatedo, arnis, lawn tennis and volleyball; University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos for sepak takraw; and Lopue’s Table Tennis Association (LOPPTA) for table tennis.

Agustin said, Arnis will be played in elementary and secondary boys and girls; and collegiate men and women. Athletics in the 10-under elementary and secondary boys and girls and collegiate men and women; badminton for elementary and secondary boys and girls and collegiate men and women; basketball in 10-under, elementary, aspirants boys and secondary boys and girls and collegiate men and women; chess on all levels except the aspirants; football on all levels; karatedo, lawn tennis, swimming and table tennis on all levels except the 10-under and aspirants; sepak takraw for secondary boys and collegiate men; and beach volleyball for secondary girls and boys and collegiate men and women.

Deadline for submission of entries will be on August 25 to 30 and the screening of documents on August 31, 2012.*
