As top supporter of the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC), Bacolod City government was awarded the Scroll of Honor Award by the PNRC, during the recent ceremony held at O Hotel, to highlight the Blood Donors’ month celebration this July. This is the 5th highest national award received by the city government of Bacolod through Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

PNRC Administrator of the Negros Occidental Chapter, Raul Garganera, said Bacolod City has exhibited outstanding leadership and support to the Red Cross in terms of blood processing fee - an average of Php 1 Million per year as blood processing fee for indigent patients.

Bacolod City was recognized as top supporter of the Red Cross helping indigent patients from the "Samaritan" funds of the city intended for the poor.

The city funds buy blood at Php 1,500 per unit or at Php 700/unit, Garganera said.

The "Scroll" was presented to the local government of Bacolod by PNRC "in recognition and deepest appreciation of its sustained collaboration in the Red Cross ideal of serving for the well-being of man".* (EBColmo)
