Sports: Pre-NOPSSCEA Basketball tourney slated on August 10-12
The top four teams in the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) collegiate basketball will pit each other in the Pre-NOPSSCEA basketball tournament on August 10, 11 and 12, 2012 at West Negros University gym.
This came about after the meeting yesterday of team managers and coaches, according to tournament commissioner Pastor Renato Bravo, who at the same time holds the same position in the secondary division in this year’s NOPSSCEA Season. Elvis Atinado will be holding the position in the elementary division.
The Pre-NOPSSCEA collegiate basketball tournament is aimed at rising funds for the forthcoming regular NOPSSCEA tourney days after this event where collegiate basketball will start August 31.
Bravo said, the tourney also served as gauge to the outcome of the tournament proper in the regular NOPSSCEA. He added,the tournament will be a single round robin, with the top two teams to dispute the title.
The four collegiate teams are West Negros University Mustangs, University of St. La Salle Stingers, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Rams and Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod Eagles.
Tony Agustin, NOPSSCEA Sports Chairman said, they will start early the collegiate basketball on August 31 to allow this year’s NOPSSCEA champion to join the Philippine Collegiate Championship League set October 14 to 16 in Dumaguete City.*
