Sports: Football’s Popularity Accelerated

This coming Saturday and every Saturday thereafter, football trainings are will be held at the back of the Bacolod City New Govt. Center grounds with coaches from USLS, UNO-R, Handumanan and Montevista, especially-funded by Councilor Carl Lopez, according to Emil Goto, a national coach and liaison officer of the councilor.

Training hours are from 7:00 to l0:00 a.m. on basic ball control for out-of-school youth and public school pupils ranging in age from 8 to l5 years old. Already, some 400 of them have been trained, Goto revealed.

On March 26, 2012, the First Carl Lopez Football Festival, involving the out-of-school and public school youngsters of the different barangays, takes place at Bacolod City National High School and on Aug. 4, 2012, there will be a football clinic from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for all public school trainees at the Bacolod City Government Center, Goto said.

He added that on Sept 1, 2012, there will be a second Carl Lopez football competition involving 80 teams from the elementary, high school and college levels, for the Open Male and Female Categories.
