Local News: Fuel Underdeliveries Among Gas Stations Checked

The city government’s composite team of inspectors, lead by Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, recently conducted its regular check of gasoline stations to

determine strict compliance with an Executive Order involving the standard gauge on fuel sales.

There were no violations committed among seven stations checked, in so far as gasoline and diesel fuel sales were concerned, as determined by the task force from the City Treasurer’s Office, the Permits and License Division, Fire Department, City Legal Office, DTI, City Planning and Development Office, Vice Mayor’s Office and the PIO. RPN 8’s Buddy Ferrer and ABS-CBN’s Meneil Lopez joined the checkings.

Pryce Gases Inc., Sea Oil’s Ensign Marketing Corp., Auto Gas Petronas’ RJ Commercial, Total’s MDL Fuel Station, Jinstar Gasoline Station (also Total’s), all situated along the Circumferential Road in Brgy. Bata, Petron’s Dragon Dynasty Petroleum Co. at the North Terminal, also in Bata and Caltex’ PD 888 Distributors, Inc. at the Circumferential Road, Brgy. Banago all showed tolerable levels in fuel sales.

Sayson, however, noted that RJ Commercial, operated by Ramy Jalandoon, was operating a gas station where there was welding activities within its premises which he said spells disaster to its LPG stocks which would explode stronger than rockets in the event of fire.

The Vice Mayor also noted that, even if its owner was only selling gasoline to its taxi drivers whose taxis are parked within the gas station compound, at the end of day, it’s just like they were selling fuel to the public because the drivers are paying for the fuel themselves.

The BFD’s Glenn Raymund Granada also noted that there was no warranty on the station’s fire extinguisher and that it had to be changed. Jinstar Gasoline was ordered by Granada to stop using a jumper in its fuse box and likewise, declared that its fire extinguisher had no warranty.

Permits and Licensing Office’s Noli Villaflor declared that Ensign Marketing Corp. had no LPG permit, RJ Commercial’s 2011 and 2012 Mayor’s Permit were not renewed, MDL’s Mayor’s Permit uncomplied with and Jinstar needed acceptance from the Office of the Building Official.

Sayson noted the sudden increase in the number of gas stations operating along the Circumferential road even as he reiterated that an Executive Order on the calibration of pumps was very specific relevant to the standard gauge.*
