Through the SM Cares Program, SM Supermalls has been promoting sus-tainable shopping habits, such as promoting eco bags to limit plastic bag usage. SM Eco

Bags is not only a green aide to shopping but a trendy item as well!

The next eco bag intends to be just as hip and friendly to the environment but this time around, you have a voice and a hand in how it will look like through the SM Eco Bag Design Contest. The winning artwork will be used as the new set of designs of this year’s SM Eco Bag.

"We’re launching this nationwide project to engage our young patrons and shoppers in a more active role in environmental awareness and the impact of limiting the use of plastics through the use of the eco bag," said Nepthali Grandea, marketing manager of SM City Bacolod. "At the same time, we want all customers to use eco bags and with a new and trendier design, they may be want to use it often while shopping," he added.

The SM Eco Bag Design Contest is open to all high school and college stu-dents enrolled in school year 2012-2013 in any school in the Philippines. Entries shall be accepted starting Thursday, July 13 up to August 9, 2012. Each entry must be composed of four designs based on the four elements of nature: air, earth, fire and water, and must be relevant to the theme "Art of Sustai-nability." For the full mecha-nics, please visit SM City Bacolod’s blog, www.smci tybacolod.blogspot.com.

Four winners (1 in Metro Manila, 1 in Luzon, 1 in the Visayas and 1 in Mindanao) shall each receive P25,000 and the new iPad. To add to the excitement, the school represented by each winner shall also receive P25,000. "The school may use this for this prize to further their environmental projects," said Grandea.

Interested students or schools may also see posters, print ads and Facebook postings for more details, or call the nearest SM Supermall. For SM City Bacolod, you may call the mall administration office at 4680168. Happy designing!*
