Local News: WV Regional Development Plan Orientation Held at Capitol
The Western Visayas Regional Development Plan (2011-2016) Orientation for Negros Occidental was held at the Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City, yesterday, participated in by local government units’ representatives, non-government organizations, Provincial Development Council members and key departments of the provincial government.
National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)-VI Regional Director Ro-ann A. Bacal presented the Western Visayas Regional Development Plan, its goals and targets as well as development strategies.
Estela Paredes, OIC Asst. Regional Director of NEDA VI, introduced the Regional Development Council of Western Visayas that coordinates the preparation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of short and long term regional development plans and investment program, regional physical framework plan and special development plans that will ensure the socio-economic development of the region to enhance the general welfare of the people.
Ma. TeresaGuadalupe of the Project Development Investment Programming and Budgeting Division of NEDA-VI presented the Western Visayas Regional Development Investment Program,while Erlinda Chiu of the Project Monitoring and Evaluation Division NEDA-VI reported on the status of monitored programs and projects in Negros Occidental.
The activity is in coordination with the Provincial Planning and Development Office headed by Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Ma. Lina P. Sanogal.
The Western Visayas Regional Development Plan’s Development Strategies include Macroeconomy and Poverty Alleviation, Competitive Industry and Services Sector, Competitive and Sustainable Agriculture and Fisheries, Tourism Development, Infrastructure Support, Human Resource Development, Research and Development, Bio-Fuels and Renewable Energy Development, Good Governance and the Rule of Law, Peace and Security and Environment and Natural Resources.*(Capitol News)
