Local News: Shooting Victim Found Dead Near River

The body of a suspected shooting victim was found near a river in Brgy. Guimbalaon, Silay City, about 4:30PM, Monday.

Silay City Police Station reports said that they were informed by Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital security guard that a victim of shooting was brought to the facility and was declared dead by attending physicians.

The victim was identified as Rene Cordero, 32, of Hacienda Salapan, Brgy. Guimbalaon, Silay City. He succumbed to a single gunshot wound on the head and two gunshot wounds on the right portion of his body inflicted by still unidentified assailant.

It was reported that Cordero was found near the river at their place.

Follow-up investigation to determine the identity of the suspect and the motive of the incident is underway.* (RRM)
