Opinion: Vice Governor Lim-ao Alvarez Dashes UNA Split
For speculators, the latest statement by Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez dashed hopes in some that somehow the reported split in the ranks of the United NegrosAlliance (UNA) could generate funds for them.
Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. had earlier reserved comment on the series of rumors of an impending split up of the UNA and the possibility that Alvarez may run against him with former City Mayor of San Carlos Eugenio Lacson as his running mate.
Political manipulators who may have been salivating that they are going to earn enough themselves this forthcoming elections better forget about it. They have to look for other bets than the members of the solid UNA.

I had earlier said I was going to help translate to English the book of Dr. Violeta Gonzaga’s herbal medicine and naturopathy which is published in colloquial Ilonggo or Hiligaynon.
The poor need to be helped to overcome the problems of economy, politics, social and cultural problems that beset society.
Modern medicine, she said, has devised a system to combat diseases with "magic" drugs and vaccines. Example, we see this in the fight against cancer. So what has happened? The multiplication of antibiotics and a lot of surgical operations. They kill cancer through radiation and the use of chemical through Chemotherapy.
Yet, all these contribute to the destruction of a person’s health.
What has disappeared was the concept of fighting diseases through homeostasis, or a sense of balance in the body.
The truth is that the reason for diseases or illnesses is loss of balance of the elements of the body.
In short, there is no more holistic attack of ailments that is needed to be able to cure a person.
She cited Dr. John R. Lee who compared the human body as a house where pests break in through gaps and eventually bring down the foundation.
In short, medical practitioners address with drugs some of these ailments and use drugs like threads which kill some pests, but do not stop the undesirables getting in through those gaps. Alternative medicine which does not depend on drugs to cure ailments, surgical operations, or repeated hospital admissions to treat various ailments is needed.
The presence of medicines in drugstores, the many prescriptions by doctors, only hide but do not deter the more serious diseases of the kidney or urethral ailments. Instead, the drugs serve to bring out more diseases, their side effects.*
