Events: Walkers, Runners and Bikers Sweat Out for the Environment
Early morning rain did not stop some 1,800 registered walkers, runners and bikers to sweat it out Sunday morning for the 1st Provincial Fun Walk, Run and Bike.
From three take off points, all the participants converged at the Provincial Capitol for the awarding and "Hataw" exercise that capped that activity.
The Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) together with the Bantay Bata 163 Foundation of ABS-CBN organized the fun-filled activity participated in by as young as 4 year-old Jullian Tejilla who won the youngest runner award to as old as Romeo Reyes, 71, who bagged the oldest runner award.
Lawyer Aleta Nuñez, PEM officer, thanked the participants for joining not just to kick off the 20th Provincial Environment Week celeb-ration,but to shout out to the public their commitment for the environment.
"Let us continue to use greener mode of transportation, continue to green our forests and continue to blue our seas," Nuñez urged participants.
The 303rd Infantry Brigade representing the Philippine Army was awarded with the biggest contingent award.
PEMO and Bantay Bata were able to raise P36,440 from the P20 registration fee collected from the participants.*
