Local News: HUDCC Gives P18-M Fund to Region 6
The Housing Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), chaired by Vice President Jejomar Binay, has turned over P18 million worth of assistance for housing projects in Western Visayas.
The checks were turned over by HUDCC secretary general Cecilia Alba, assisted by Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Emilia Lanuza of Social Housing Finance Corporation, to target beneficiaries at the Pabahay Caravan at Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City yesterday.
The checks were: P6 million for landowners Belma Aplasca and Rosario Ronquillo for CMP Project Botda Village HOA at Oton, Iloilo, which will benefit 200 families;
P4.7 million for Mr. and Mrs. Felix Flores of CMP Project Botda Village 2 HOA, also in Oton, which will benefit 159 families;
P7 million for Vicente Gimena for CMP Project Simon Peter Village HOA, Inc. in Roxas City to benefit 186 families; origination fee of P208,938 to Roxas City Urban Poor Federation; and origination fee of P136,755 to Negros Urban Areas Development Foundation.
The housing caravan was attended by Pilar Jamandre of Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB), Lorna Seraspe of National Housing Authority (NHA), Siegfred Briones of Pag-IBIGn(Home Development Mutual Fund), and Emilia Lanuza of Social Housing Finance Corporation.
Several board members and mayors of Negros Occidental also attended the caravan.
Binay, who is HUDCC chairman, was set to grace the Pabahay Caravan yesterday, but his son, Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay who graced the caravan, said Binay was set to leave for Jeddah as representative of President Aquino to personally convey the country’s condolences to King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz al-Saud on the passing of Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdul-Aziz al-Saud of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Mayor Binay was also in Bacolod yesterday for the signing of sisterhood agreement between Makati and Bacolod cities, in time for the commemoration of the signing of Bacolod Charter.*
