Sports: More Negrense Boxers Being Eyed for RP Team
More Negrense boxers are expected to be taken by the Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP) after their sterling performance in the last 2012 POC-PSC Philippine National Games boxing competitions at the Ninoy Aquino Memorial Stadium in Manila.
Sagay City’s Aljhun Oro, who lost his final bout in a controversial scoring is likely to be taken in by the training pool.
Oro lost his bout for the gold medal against Davao Del Norte Joey Canoy in a questionable scoring, while showing his aggressiveness in the last round.
The other Negrense boxer is James Palicte of Bago City who snatched the gold in the 60 kilograms against Risty Apas of Davao Del Norte. Palicte showed his dominance over his opponents who also beat James Calago of Sipalay City who represented Negros Occidental. Palicte was once a member of the training pool but was a victim of power-struggle within the coaching staff.
Personally, RP Women coach, Michelle Martinez is eyeing Riza Pasuit to be included in her list seeing the potential from this Sitio Tap-ok, Barangay Enclaro in Binalbagan town the potential of becoming a champion. Although, loses her fight for the first time while aiming for the gold against former RP Team training pool member Margie Waga of Misamis Oriental, Martinez watch her fight from the sideline and show her interest of taking Pasuit for the RP Team.* (CMGarde)
