A tricycle driver in Kabankalan City turned over an unknown caliber of firearm to local police authorities after he reportedly grabbed it from his passenger, about 11PM, Friday.

Noel Artesano, 53, of Repullo St., Brgy. 5 in Kabankalan City told police authorities that the gun he seized was from his passenger, Federico Rodriguez, 58, temporarily residing at Brgy. 1. He related that Rodriguez boarded his vehicle and when he asked for his fare, the said gun fell from the suspect’s pocket. Artesano then seized the gun and endorsed the suspect to Kabankalan City Police Station.

A .38 caliber revolver without serial number with six live ammunitions was turned over to PO1 Efren Gaspillo.

The suspect is presently detained for further investigation and filing of charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 8294 or Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunitions.

Meanwhile, another person was nabbed at Purok Mainuswagon, Brgy. Bagumbayan, Valladolid for alleged violation of the same law.

A caliber .38 revolver bearing serial number 310857 with six live ammunitions was taken from Renan Gasapo alias Apa, after he reportedly pointed the gun at a certain Genevieve Panoliga.

PO2 Jose Gregorio Abad is conducting investigation on the case.*
