Sports: Organic Solutions vs. Jast to Dispute Class B in Fil-Sino Caging Tomorrow
Top seed Organic Solutions and No. 3 team Jast Enterprises will dispute the Class B title on Friday after winning their separate matches against respective opponents in the 2012 Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade 1st Conference Inter-Color basketball tournament at Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.
Organic Solutions demolished JSY Transport, 69-40, while Jast Enterprises slipped past No. 2 Basecom in a come-from-behind win, 77-73, in semifinals last Monday.
JSY Transport kept pace with Organic in the first quarter despite of 2 points deficit, 16-14.
But Organic take advantage of the Transport misses in all angles and field goal attempts in the second quarter and scored three points all in the free throw area.
Brian Ong and Simon Tan connects with 9 and 6 points respectively for Solutions for a 33-17 halftime lead.
Transport offense misfired in the second half and manage to score 23 points against the 36 of Organic.
Brian Ong finished with 16 points, Jerky Ong and Tan had 10 points each, while Ardian Ong and Bingbong Villanueva with 7 points each.
Tubby Villanueva led JSY Transports with 9 points, while Siopao Dichavez and Garret Tabanao added 8 points apiece.
In the other game ; Basecom take advantage of the first quarter, 29-16 lead with Dr. Chico Coruña scoring 13 points and Luigi Coo added 8 .
Edward Uy then take the cudgel in the second quarter scoring 11 points for Basecom and ended the half at 47-40even as Jast’s Kevin Banzon, Brian Javelosa and Papang Oxinio connects with 4 points each.
Jan Jan Young tallied 7 points as he led a balance Jast offensive to draw closer at 63-60 at the end of the third quarter.
But in the final quarter, free shooting doomed Basecom and only manage to score 10 points in the quasrter with Coo scoring 7 points.
Jast frontcourt of Ralph Ong, Brian Javelosa and Kieron Tan were dominating the rebounds at both ends of the court giving more chances for their shooters to deliver.
Banzon paced Jast with 15 points, Ong added 14, Young 13, Christopher Mahinay 7 and Javelosa 6.
Coo top scored with18 points for the losing efforts of Basecom, while Coruña 14 and Uy contributed 14 points each.* (CMGarde with reports from Stephen Tan)
