Local News: Tricycle Driver Arrested for Assault, Rape Attempt
A 22-year old housewife thwarted a rape attempt by a tricycle driver in Tinampaan Village, Cadiz City yesterday when she fought back and prevented the planned sexual abuse in a banana grove at the village.
But comely Genevieve Lamaya, 22, fought back doggedly although she suffered numerous stab wounds on her body inflicted by tricycle driver, Roberto Calvario, 34, an Aksyon Radyo report said.
Calvario is now detained at the Cadiz City PNP jail, Supt. Noel Manaay, newly returned police chief, said. Manaay was reassigned to the Cadiz City Police Station after being deployed in the Talisay Police Station (TCPO) and the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO).
Lamaya was hospitalized because of the wounds inflicted upon her. But police operatives were able to arrest Calvario and detained him soon after the assault victim was able to identify him.
Manaay told Aksyon Radyo Bacolod in an interview that charges could be filed against him yesterday. Then if his alleged crime is bailable, he could post bail but a source, a lawyer said, this is doubtful.*
