Local News: Watchmen in Manapla Shot Dead; Payroll Money Stolen
Two watchmen of Hacienda Bariw in Manapla were shot dead by three armed men and robbed them of the payroll money last Saturday about 8 a.m.
PSInsp. Edencio L. Gregorio, Manapla Police chief who led the investigation reported that three unidentified armed men entered Hacienda Bariw, Brgy. Sta. Teresa, Manapla owned by Esteban Lacson and shot the first watchman identified as Eddie Basa.
Basa, 62, of Crossing Solatorio, Brgy. Sta. Teresa was shot in the head and stomach by one of the three suspects; while two others took the payroll money amounting to P125, 000 from Basa’s wife, Ma. Basa was brought to Victorias City’s Immaculate Concepcion Hospital where he was pronounced dead by attending physicians.
The suspects before taking off seized the KYMCO motorcycle owned by Teresa Basa while on their way towards the North direction of the hacienda.
However, on their way out, the suspects met Julie Beating, 43, of Cadiz Viejo, Cadiz City, and the second watchman of Hda. Bariw and shot him twice in the body. He was later rushed to Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City where he later expired while under treatment.
Recovered from the crime scene were; a piece of black holster, 3 empty shells of 9mm caliber pistol, a cane bolo and a pair of rubber slippers.
Manhunt operation is being conducted jointly by elements of Manapla Police led by PSInsp. Gregorio and members of the 2nd Maneuver Platoon, of Regional Public Safety Battalion led by PInsp. Joemel A. Gonzaga for the identity of the suspects and their possible arrest.*
