Local News: Revolutionary Group Airs Sympathy, Moral Support for Arles Family

The Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) in Negros has aired its sympathy and moral support to the family of murdered Kabankalan City RTC Judge Henry Arles. The CPP-NPA letter further expresses its sadness at the killing of Judge Arles, praising his uprightness and condemnation of the killing. Judge Arles, they said, was an upright judge and one of an impeccable character.

But Ria Arles, the judge’s daughter who is also based in Manila as a practising lawyer, said the letter did not say the group was going to go after the judge’s killer or killers.

The letter was done in handwriting not typewritten nor computer-printed and sent directly to the Arles family, without a copy made available to the media. As things go, in years of familiarity with statements issued by the CPP-NPA, the letter appeared to be authentic.

It is also possible that if the Arles family publicly will seek the help of the revolutionary underground in cracking the still unsolved killing case, the CPP-NPA would not withhold support.

Earlier, Task Force Arles composed of the PNP-CIDG and the Kabankalan Police, according to Ria Arles, had released sketches of the suspected lookout and the actual killers, based on descriptions provided by witnesses.

The still distraught Ria Arles, also bared during the interview by Aksyon Radyo Bacolod that the major kinks related to the case has been ironed out and clearly, the killing of her father has now been considered by the task force as work-related. And a prominent family may have something to do with her father’s murder.

She has also appealed to Local Government Units and the community in the Askyon Radyo interview, to provide information which could now definitely solve her father’s murder.

The reward money amounting to P1-M from the family has been deposited in the branch of a bank, ready as reward for information leading to the conviction of her father’s murderers and conspirators.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), has been conducting a parallel and separate investigation from Task Force Arles and from time to time both groups compare leads they have gathered.

Highly-reliable sources said because the killers of Arles have shown their capability and straight shooting.

It is also puzzling because in Southern Negros, there are no groups involved in hit for pay and which is also a puzzle.*
