Sports: Silay Swimming Team Bags an Award
The Silay Swimming Team was awarded as the overall champion in the Swimtek Novice Age Group Swimming Competition held in the University of Saint La Salle, Bacolod City last May 26, 2012.
The team’s competitors are the Sta. Fe Swimming Team, Bago City Swimming Team, Kabankalan Red Lion Swimming Team, Boracay Swimming Team, Kadalag-an Swimming Team Team-Victorias City, Cadiz City Swimming Team, University of Saint La Salle Swimming Team, San Carlos Swimming Team and Victorias Swimming Team.
Silay Swimming Team also earned a trophy for the most number of participants and 141 medals.
The medalist swimmers are Joshua Magbanua, Alexie Kouzenye Cabayaran, Kevin Judd Ballon, Juliana Rein Villavert, Margaritt Delotavo, Christopher James Bentulan, Daven James Blanco, John Richard Sayon, Jyllan Bitalac, Erika Dane Zayco, Jon Oliver Villavert, Timothy John Sellado, Red Canson, Irah Jenneh Bustamante, Paolo Anton Londres, Christian Tyron Bentulan, Meg Ryan Diamante, Karen Joy Ballon, Jerico Tanuga, Jason Ballon, Juna Lescano and Pauline Apolinario.
Silay City Swimming Team Coach Manuel Almirante is thankful for the support of the local chief executive and the coordination of the Sports Committee Head/OIC-NGVSCC Hector Gamboa for motivating the kids.
Almirante said the Swimtek Novice Age Group Swimming Competition is a yearly event wherein kids’ ages from 6-18 years old compete according to their age category.* (Joanzen D. Dedoroy)
