Sports: WV Medalists’ Cash Incentives Out on June 4
The cash incentives for Western Visayas medalists in 2012 Palarong Pambansa held in Lingayen, Pangasinan will be given at 10:30am at the Social Hall, Provincial Capitol on June 4, 2012 for Negros Occidental athletes during a tribute initiated by the Provincial Government.
The medalists from Capiz, Aklan, Antique, Guimaras and Iloilo can get their cash incentives on a scheduled date next week so they will not be burdened to come to Bacolod City.
About P1,010,000.00 was approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan intended for Western Visayas medalists for helping the region to place second anew to perennial champion National Capital Region (NCR).
The amount was computed and signed by Department of Education Regional Director Mildred Garay before submission to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for approval.
The athletes that comprised Western Visayas received cash incentives after Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo G. Marañon announced in Lingayen that individual medalists will get P10,000 for the gold; P5,000 for silver and P3,000 for bronze medals.
In the team event, the champion will receive P50,000; 1st runner-up with P30,000 and 2nd runner-up with P10,000.
Western Visayas collected 24 gold, 19 silver and 14 bronze medals in athletics to emerge champion in elementary girl’s division.
They won the titles in elementary and secondary girls softball, secondary girls basketball, elementary boys and girls arnis, while they took the silver medals in elementary and secondary girls’ volleyball and bronze medals in elementary and secondary boys’ basketball. It collected a total of 452 points; 221.50 in elementary and 230.50 in secondary to place second behind National Capital Region in the overall championship based on point systems.
Individual medalists from Negros Occidental in the athletics were (gold) Richee Joy Canbayog (secondary boys shot put); Lovielyn Pamatian (SG 800 meters); Cesar Fernandez (EB high jump and triple jump); Sheinne Sanchez (EG shot put and discus throw); Joycie Beranio (EG 100 and 200 meters) and Ailyn Tumbali (EG long jump). Those that won silver medals are: Richee Joy Canbayog (SB discus throw); Reymark De La Cruz (SB 800); Johnly Ison (SB 400 hurdles); Mary Anthony Diesto (SG long jump); Jealyn Duran (SG 3, 000), Jessie Tormis, Jr. (EB triple jump) and Devy Isada (SG discus throw). Bronze medalists: Jun Montalbo (SB 3,000 steeplechase); Jessie Tormis, Jr. (EB long jump); Ceasar Ian Oberas (EB 200); Diane Grace Zayco (EG javelin throw).
Medalists in Iloilo are; Lorenzo Capajo; Dexter Galos, Rowell Alarcon, Renz John Gemolaga, Julius Carl Berona, Evelyn Palabrica, Elena Camiring, Joneza Sustituedo, Ronald Lacson, Pia Angelica Barcino, Pamela Marquilleno, Ezel Divinagracia, Cherie Narisma and Berna Luz Talaron; and Aklan were Angelica De Josef, Jasmin Tayco and John Lloyd Batalla; Capiz- Jealyn Lancita and Juancho de La Cruz.* (CMG)
