Local News: 10 More Bus Passengers Hurt in Patag, Silay City Road Mishap

Ten more people who were hurt in Brgy. Patag when their service vehicle hit a tree while passing a slope, Friday morning were identified by investigators.

SPO3 Joseth Catonina, SPO1 Cesar Dequiña, PO3 Rey Paloma and Patrol Team 7, of Silay City Police who conducted the investigation reported that Fuso Bus No. 12 with plate number XGT 485 registered to Silay City government driven by Hernan Rubica, of Antonio Luna St., and loaded with 30 passengers on their way to attend the funeral of their relative when the accident happened.

Also injured in the accident were: Julia Duran, 49, of Eroreco Subd., Brgy. Mandalagan sustained a minor cut on the right portion of her head and pains on her right shoulder; Jonna Joy Alpas, 40, of Bonifacio St., Silay City suffered an injury on her left ankle; Marilyn Nardo, 58, of Bonifacio St., Silay City also suffered back pains; Irene Alpas, 42, who sustained bruises on her left knee; Dolores Zamora, 38, of Tres Fuentes, Brgy. Lantad who complained of pain on her left shoulder; Analisa Teodoro, 50, of Antonio Luna, Brgy. 1 suffered minor head contusion, pains on the left elbow and right shoulder; Marilyn Catala, 43; Jonathan Panhilason, 12; Cliff Paulo Ton-ligan, 9, and Trevyan Allan Alpas, 11, who sustained minor head contusions.

Reports said the victims were attending the funeral of their relative in Brgy. Patag at the village cemetery and when they reached the inclined curve road of the area locally known as Oyot, just below the army detachment, they tried to evade the crossing children from being hit causing them to swerve to the left and lost control of the vehicle, then went downwards hitting a tree.

Earlier, passengers reported hurt were; Maria Paz Guinabo, 56, of Brgy. Mambulac, and suffered injuries on the head; Rosario Pasco, 51, also of Brgy. Mambulac sustained a lump on the head; Norlyn Piedad, 33, of Purok Ipil-ipil, Brgy. Mambulac; Cynthia Pepito, of Bonifacio St., Brgy. II, Silay City; Donna Grace Delante, 36, of Abkasa, Brgy. Mandalagan; Janine Duran, 20, of Erorco Subd., Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod City; Ruel Delatin, 40, of Abkasa, Brgy. Mandalagan; Teresita Jimenea, 70, of Tres Fuentes, Silay City who sustained a swollen right eye; Allan Alpas, 40, of Bonifacio Extension who experienced some pain on the neck and on his right foot; and Lydia Lavadia, 59, widow, of Purok Ipil-ipil, Brgy. Mambulac, Silay City.

Most of the patients suffered pains on the head; neck, back and chest, among others due to the impact after their vehicle fell on its side. They were brought to Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital for medical treatment by the City ambulance and other private vehicles.
