Events: VNHS Brigada Eskwela Deemed as a Big Success in Victorias

One of the most successful, exciting, fun and enjoyable week-long activity in Negros Occidental and the rest of Western Visayas was the Brigada Eskwela 2012, undertaken by the Victorias National High School (VNHS) recently.

Negros Daily Bulletin personnel lead by Jun de los Reyes join the Brigada Eskwela of Victorias National High School 2012.*

Day 1 on May 21, 2012 was the Opening Program where the following were presented; Brigandancercise, Moves of Entertainment of CAT I Officers, DepEd March and many others before the School Works began like cleaning the school rooms, surroundings, comfort rooms, drainage and canals, painting of school rooms, walls and fences, cutting and pruning of trees and plants, repair and maintenance of electrical equipment and machines including computers, etc.

Color of the Day was white. Day 2, May 22 was Brigada Eskwela Alumni Day. This is a special Brigada Eskwela working day for all VNHS graduates in cooperation with VNHS teacher retirees, religious sector, senior citizens, school organizations, government offices, Magsaysay Boys, West Negros University Graduate Studies.

Color of the day was yellow. Facilitators were second year teachers and students.

Day 3, May 23, was Brigada Eskwela Kapamilya Day, a special Brigada Eskwela working day for all ABS-CBN News Team, provincial and local government units, Ass’n of Brgy. Captains, barangay officials, SSG, PTA, school organizatiions, Negros Daily Bulletin, VMC, SK, Brgy. III, Zone II, youth organizations, Zion Hill Music Studio & Production. Color of the day was blue. Facilitators were Fourth Year teachers and students.

Day 4, May 24, 2012, Brigada Eskwela Makisig Day was a special day for all groups of men: RPSB-6, PNP, BJMP, BFP, VRC, Wild Gear, Guardians, Team Malogo, Team Victorias, 1st & 3rd Maneuver Platoons & URDC, Inc.. Color of the day was red. Facilitators were Third Year teachers and students.

Day 5, May 25, 2012, Brigada Eskwela-Negosyo and NGOs’ Day. It was also the day for all businessmen and non-government organizations like Victorias Water District, VRESCO, Rotary Club, LBP-Victorias, PNB-Victorias, CSB, UCPB, Bank of Victorias, BC Bank, VCC, Pepsi, A. McJade Supermarket and Mang Inasal.

Color of the day was green. Facilitators were the First Year teachers and students.

Vice-Mayor Frederick "Wantan" Palanca in behalf of Mayor Severo Palanca said, "This is a celebration where all stakeholders are responsible for the future of our schoolchildren and we are part of their future as well." He donated P12,600 for the support of the Reading Program of VNHS-Dev’t Reading In Program (DRIP) for slow readers.

Provincial Board Member Frederick Manuel "Manman" Ko (3rd District) said that this is the "time to exert our efforts and support for whatever assistance we can share to support the program of DepEd."

Donie Galinato, former SPM of Victorias City and of A. McJade Supermart and Mang Inasal donated 3 sets of computers and 3 boxes of noodles in support to Brigada Eskwela of VNHS.

VNHS PTA President Judy Ann Clavel expressed support and cooperation to the various stakeholders in this year’s Brigada Eskwela.

Mr. Juelle, President of VNHS Alumni Assn. Inc. donated 800 pcs of hollow blocks and cement.

Victorias City Mayor Severo Palanca, through Marvin Medel of the City Sports Office donated P80,000 worth of athletic shoes and school supplies.

Dr. Cesar D. Adapon, VNHS Sr. Dev. Principal III lauded and the support and cooperation of the various stakeholders, public and private sectors for their commitment in working for the good of the school. "It takes the community to educate a child. This endeavor creates a scheme of partnership initiated by DepEd to achieve its purpose and objectives to the best interest of the school children in public schools," Adapon pointed out.*
