Local News: Fishermen Collared for ‘Stealing’

Two fishermen were arrested for allegedly stealing assorted fish inside the net owned by Aqua King Dos Fishing Vessel owned by Ace Fishing Corporation, early morning, Saturday along the territorial waters of Hinigaran.

PSInsp. Nerito Lobrido, of Hinigaran Police Station with PO1 Agustin Sales, of PNP Maritime Group, PO3 Hospicio B. Toledares, of Provincial Coast Guard and PO2 Stephen Ablao, of Bantay Dagat Task Force Hinigaran conducted a seaborne patrol operations in the said area based on the prior complaint lodged by Ace Fishing Corporation about a series of theft incidents.

The team arrested Rene Abestros, 43, and Junnie Perder, 45, both of Brgy. Guihulngan, Cauayan on board a fishing boat. They were reportedly caught in the act of taking assorted fishes from the net inside Aqua Dos fishing vessel.

Confiscated from the suspects were; two boxes of stolen assorted fishes amounting to P2,000, 4 pieces flashlights, a 10-inch knife, engine tools, and their boat.

They are presently detained at Hinigaran Police Station for further investigation; while the confiscated items were turned over to Ace Fishing Corporation and the vessel was endorsed to Bantay Dagat for custody.* (RRM)
