Motorcycle-riding gunmen, waylaid a just-released convicted prisoner, in Canson Subdivision in Barangay 2, La Carlota City, peppering him with bullets causing his death.

Dead was William Yanson, 51 years old and a just-recently released prisoner on parole. He was immediately brought to a hospital in the city, but he was declared dead on arrival at the medical facility.

P/Supt. Alexander Corpuz, chief of police of La Carlota City, said they found nine .45 caliber pistol shells near Yanson’s body. He was hit in various parts of the body but among his fatal wounds were gunshots hitting his head. They have not established the motive for the shooting yet.

The suspects who waylaid Yanson were three men and a woman, all on board three motorcycles. They fled after the shooting incident. It is possible that the four gunmen had or have back-ups, added SPO2 John Gallinero of the city police.

Residents first heard successive gunshots and then they checked, they found Yanson lying on the ground, bloodied.*(Edgar Cadagat)
