Business: SM City Expansion to Include Bigger Event Center

SM City Bacolod’s Event Centre has been the venue of colorful, music-laden, one-of-a-kind shows in Bacolod City. Some of the recent spectacular events of

the year include: Eggstream Easter Carnival Adventure, Dance Talk Monologues, the Whitney Houston tribute and the McDonald’s Kiddie Crew Grand Graduation. The Event Centre is also the premier venue for shows of various local and international talents.

At the McDonald’s Kiddie Crew Grand Graduation held this month, around 2,000 kids, parents and family members enjoyed a fun and colorful day at the SM City Bacolod Event Centre.*

As the expansion of SM City’s north building progresses, the city of Bacolod can look forward to a bigger event center when the construction is completed. The improved activity area will enable an even wider variety of events, the kind that has associated SM as the venue for quality entertainment.

The improved SM Event Centre will also allow room for bigger audiences, through the multi-level floors that will feature prominently in the expanded building.

The expansion of SM City Bacolod is currently ongoing, with the first phase of the project targeted for completion in 2013. An Annex Building will contribute 102,043 square meters of gross floor area to the main mall, increasing total gross floor area to 171,380 square meters. The Annex will offer 81,204 square meters of gross leasable area when the second phase of the expansion is completed in 2014.

With a bigger SM City Bacolod in 2013 through 2014, new stores, restaurants and services will be made available to the public. With such attractions on hand, the new Event Centre will have its fill of entertainment to offer to mall goers too – events that are bigger, better and deserving of the Bacolod audience.*
