Feature: Memorial Lecture Honoring Dr. Telesforo Delos Reyes
Doctors of various lines of practices in Bacolod City honored the late Dr. Telesforo (Teri) delos Reyes, Jr, through the 10th Dr. Telesforo delos Reyes
Memorial Lecture conducted at Bar 21 last night, with Pfizer as its regular sponsor.As founder of the Philippine College of Occupational Medicine (PCOM), Negros Occidental Chapter, Dr. Teri is always remembered of his philantrophic deeds to the people whose services were often offered free. The reason why he became dedicated volunteer doctor in the medical mission of the army, being the commander of the army reservists in Negros Occidental with a rank of Lt. Colonel.
The memorial lecture of PCOM, updates the doctors on the prescription medicines of Pfizer, at the same time induction of new set of officers of PCOM, with Dr. Rufo a.Aranjuez, nationalboard of director, PCOM as guest speaker.
Pfizer speakers were Dr.Remedios Tomas, on the "role of Agreessive Statin use inhigh risk cardio vascular patients; updates from recent trials." While Dr. Joan Cerrada talked on the "evolving roles of macrolide in respiratory diseases."
Aside from medical practitioners present, top ranking officers of 303rd Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army were also around: Col. Jon Ayeng, deputy Brigade commander; LtC. Nathaniel Villasor, executive officer; and others.
The family of the late Dr.Teri warmly welcomed the guests: anesthesiologist Dr. Erlinda delos Reyes – widow of Dr.Teri, son Lt. Col. Isabelo delos Reyes, with wife and son. While Internist Dr. Cecile Salvador hosted the program.
Lt. Col. Delos Reyes expressed gratitude to PCOM Negros Occidental chapter, and the attendees for their untiring support to PCOM started by his father. He also said, "Daddy was and will remain inspiration because of his tenacity, persistence in working hard for his belief that PCOM will become an active partner of the Philippine Medical Association as its affiliate organization in Occupational medicine, with the vision to improve health, and working conditions of workers.
Adding impetus to the event was induction of officers of PCOM Negros Occidental Chapter led by Dr. Enrique Serna, Jr. Dr. Aranjuez administered their oath taking.
Dr.Felix Valenzuela, immediate past president of PCOM, was awarded Occupational Physician of Negros Occidental 2011.
After Dr. Teri delos Reyes, pillars of PCOM –Negros Occidental were past presidents Doctors Hector Torre, Rosa Valenzuela, Erlinda delos Reyes, Abner Cortes, Jose Gladwyn Treyes, Willie Sy, Rogelio Zulueta, Jose Fernandez, and Rodolfo Jocson.*
