3 ‘Rob Gang Members’ Killed
Three alleged members of a notorious group behind the series of armed robbery-holdups, killings and other crimes in northern Negros Occidental were killed in a clash with policemen early yesterday morning in E. B. Magalona (Saravia) town.
Killed during the firefight at Hda. Banilad in Barangay Nangka was identified by the police as Andy Esguiran, of the town.
Identities of the two other casualties, whose bodies are now at Lourdes funeral parlor in E.B. Magalona, remain unknown.
The three were killed in a duel with a joint team of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO)-Special Operations Group (SOG)-E. B. Magalona PNP operatives.
NOPPO Director Sr. Supt. Milko Lirazan earlier said policemen were originally tasked to serve warrants but something triggered the firefight.
‘NOT ANDY ESGUIRAN’. Early last night over DYEZ Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod, news director-anchorman Rex Cantong got a call from a certain Nelbert Esguiran claiming to be the brother of Andy.
Nelbert denied that one of those killed in the clash at about 5:30 yesterday morning was Andy, saying Andy is in Cebu, "admitting he has warrants of arrest but is making good of his being free."
Cantong also got several information, one of which came from a certain Tata Silva saying it was not the Seva Brothers group that the combined police team encountered.
Cantong’s informant was saying that the Seva brothers have already sought "reformed lives" somewhere.*(Arman P. Toga)
