Local News: Suspect in Robinsons Galleria Robbery Falls
The joint operations of National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) Special Operations Group arrested last night evening one of the suspects in last month’s robbery at the mall in Manila.
Willy Enriquez, 45, married, a temporary resident of Brgy. Nasapahan, Lemery, Iloilo was arrested when he met with his wife at crossing Ubos, Poblacion, Ajuy, Iloilo.
Enriquez was the subject of a week-long surveillance and monitoring after he was positively identified by witnesses.
He is facing a criminal complaint for Robbery in Band and for violation of PD 1866 as amended by RA 8294 or the Philippine Firearms Law.
He went in hiding at Lemery, Iloilo a few days following the bloody heist in Robinsons Galleria in Ortigas Avenue, Quezon City.
Police Director Allan Purisima, director of NCRPO, sent his men to Iloilo and coordinated with PRO-6 director, C/Supt. Cipriano E. Querol, Jr., who ordered the surveillance.
Meanwhile, it was on March 29 when Enriquez with another suspect forcibly entered the mall before 10 a.m. and went to the mall’s first level to rob the Security Bank roving tellers delivering money. A shootout ensued which resulted to the death of a security guard and wounding another.
Two bank tellers and three mall shoppers were also injured after the suspects threw a grenade at them.
Enriquez will be turned over today to NCRPO for proper disposition.*(PO3 Francisco Lindero Jr.)
