Sports: Five Entries Win SJS-LS Alumni in Derby
Five entries were declared winners in the 1st Fiesta de San Jose 3-Cock derby held last Sunday at Villamonte Gym in Bacolod City.
Each entry won P14,336.00 for a total of P71,680.00, while the handlers and gaffers received P800 and P600 respectively, according to Derby Chairman Greg J. Canada.
The five champion teams were Clarence Batch ‘72, OPM Calibration batch ‘72, Batch ‘87, Ta-al, and DLJV Shem Lean 3 cock.
The event is also in commemoration of the feast of St. Joseph and in celebration of 100 years of La Sallian presence in the Philippines.
After he successful holding of the event, organizers are going to make it a 4-cock derby next year.
The derby was sponsored by St. Joseph School–La Salle Alumni Association Inc., headed by Antonio B. Genovea in coordination with Ruby Jubliaran Batch 72, Silver Jubliarian Batch 87 and the extensive support of Barangay Villamonte headed by Barangay Captain Drebe Las Piñas and barangay council. Also supporting the event were B-Meg, Power Vet, Lakwe, Thunderbird and Coca Cola.
Proceeds of the event go to less fortunate brothers and sisters through Scholarship Programs with the St. Joseph La Salle School.* (CMGarde)
